The interior style will be like nothing that Guido de Groot or Van der Valk have produced in the past. “The owner has asked us to develop an industrial flavour. We’ll make the most of the space available – especially in terms of height – giving the yacht a loft feel complete with exposed structural components and tough design elements. Another key aspect will be the way the outside colour scheme blends over into the interior. This was another specific wish of the client and is being incorporated within the interior design from the outset.”
All these original features complement the already impressive design of the Van der Valk Explorer line, adds De Groot. “I am a big fan of the sturdy raised pilothouse trawler look, and this yacht is an excellent example of a robust explorer that looks great and provides a no-nonsense, practical platform for discovering the world. Being designed as a real family boat, she is also suitable for small children.”
The combination of an all-aluminium construction, fast displacement hull and twin MAN V12 1650 hp engines will give the yacht a top speed of around 20 knots, with zero-speed gyroscopic stabilisation ensuring optimal comfort. The layout of each deck has been developed in a way that allows all onboard to make the most of the different environments they encounter on their travels.
